Robbie Williams’ management team accused of putting his tour tickets on pricey resale sites

A BBC report has claimed that tickets for Robbie Williams’ forthcoming stadium tour have been placed on resale sites by the singer’s own management team.

According to the Victoria Derbyshire Show, the tickets for Williams’ Heavy Entertainment tour are available on such sites as Seatwave and Get Me In! they for around £65 more than the standard price on Ticketmaster.

However they have suggested that those tickets were posted there by Ie:Music – and that proceeds from the sales will go directly to them.

The platinum tickets for the show, due to take place at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium on June 2, were priced at £95 on Ticketmaster before booking fees – but the show claims that on resale site Get Me In! they were going for £160.

A note on the site reads: ‘The seller of this ticket is the organiser of the event or a person acting on behalf of the organiser of the event.’

Ticketmaster said in a statement to the BBC that the platinum seats ‘are a very small percentage of the best seats that are priced according to demand, in consultation with our clients, the event organisers.

‘The UK live events industry has been successfully using platinum for many years so that the full value of these tickets goes back to the rights holders and not to resellers.’

That hasn’t stopped the report from causing some controversy, with You Me At Six singer Josh Franceschi speaking out against resale sites on the show.

‘I think Robbie Williams with the level he’s at doesn’t need the extra money – that’s their choice, but this is what this whole fight is about, if we could eliminate the secondary websites we wouldn’t be having this conversation anyway.’

It has also emerged that Ie:Music were among those signing a petition in 2015 which called for a crackdown on resale sites.
